Normal. It’s been mentioned a lot as people are anxious for this pandemic to be a thing of the past. Websters defines normal as conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected. Do I really want to go back to that normal? As I think about “normal”, I think on all that has transpired this past month. Social distancing, Sheltering at home, and how the world has been set on “pause”. I also think on all I have learned during this time of great “pause.” It is amazing how a pause can make all the difference. It made me stop. It has been a time of regrouping, reprioritizing, re-focusing, resting…..listening. I have learned so much in just listening!
When the world starts up again….I don’t want to forget all of those life-changing things. I don’t want to go back to the “old normal”…..in fact as Steve Furtick said (and I could not agree more) I think it is about
looking forward to normal, not getting back to normal. Faith looks forward, and I look forward to this new season. Is it filled with unknowns? Oh yes. Can that be a bit unnerving? You bet! Sometimes it takes more faith to let God sort it all out, but I always remember our world has changed, but God hasn’t. Whenever we are given hard things….we are always given the grace to turn it into a glorious thing. Whatever is coming….He’s already there. I look forward to the new normal, and pray I can take with me the life changing things I have learned……in the pause.
